How InstantStack handles personal data for website visitors and InstantFilter customers.

Last updated: June 6, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how InstantStack (operated by WebKenner, Tom van den Hengel) collects, uses, and protects personal data when you visit instantstack.co, purchase InstantFilter, or contact us for support.

Who is responsible for your data?

Data controller: WebKenner (trading as InstantStack)
Located in Oss, The Netherlands
Chamber of Commerce (KVK): 84661858
Email: tom@instantstack.co

What data we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may process:

  • Website usage data — pages visited, referral source, browser type, device type, and approximate location derived from IP address. See the section on server-side analytics below.
  • Contact and support data — name, email address, message content, and any technical details you share (such as listing IDs, URLs, or screenshots).
  • Purchase and license data — billing name, email address, country, order details, and license key status. Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record.
  • Plugin usage data — when you activate an InstantFilter license, the plugin may communicate with InstantStack servers to validate your license key and enforce plan limits (sites, listings, indexed products).

We do not intentionally collect special categories of personal data (such as health or biometric data) through InstantFilter.

Server-side analytics and tracking

We use server-side analytics to understand how visitors use instantstack.co. When you load a page, our server may record technical and usage data as part of the normal request, including:

  • Page URL and referrer (where you came from)
  • Browser user agent and device type
  • IP address (stored in truncated or pseudonymised form where possible)
  • Timestamp of the visit
  • Marketing parameters such as UTM tags, when present in the URL

This data is processed on our own infrastructure or through processors under our control. Server-side tracking helps us measure traffic and improve content without relying on third-party advertising trackers in the browser.

We use this information to analyse site performance, understand which pages are useful, and improve our documentation and marketing. We do not use server-side analytics to build advertising profiles or sell visitor data.

How we use your data

  • To provide, maintain, and improve InstantFilter and related services.
  • To process orders, deliver downloads, and manage subscriptions.
  • To validate licenses and apply tier limits.
  • To respond to support requests and communicate product updates.
  • To measure website usage and improve our content (server-side analytics).
  • To comply with legal obligations and prevent fraud or abuse.

Legal basis (GDPR)

Where EU/EEA data protection law applies, we rely on:

  • Contract — to deliver the product or service you purchased.
  • Legitimate interests — to secure our services, prevent misuse, measure website usage through server-side analytics, and improve the product.
  • Legal obligation — where tax or accounting rules require record keeping.
  • Consent — where required for non-essential cookies or optional marketing communications (you can withdraw consent at any time).

Processors and sharing

We use trusted third parties to operate our business, including:

  • Lemon Squeezy — payment processing, invoicing, and customer portal.
  • Hosting providers — website, analytics, and license validation infrastructure.
  • Email providers — support communication and transactional messages.

We do not sell your personal data. We only share data when necessary to deliver the service, comply with law, or protect our rights.

Retention

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above. Server-side analytics data is retained for a limited period sufficient for trend analysis, then aggregated or deleted. Billing records may be retained longer where required by tax or accounting law. Support emails are kept for a reasonable period to resolve follow-up questions.

Your rights

If GDPR applies, you may have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or port your data, and to object to certain processing (including processing based on legitimate interests). You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

To exercise your rights, email tom@instantstack.co. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

Cookies and similar technologies

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies for essential functionality, security, and — where you consent — analytics preferences. Server-side analytics does not depend on third-party advertising cookies, but we may still set small first-party cookies to remember your cookie choices or maintain basic session state.

Details about the cookies we use, how long they last, and how to manage them are set out in our separate Cookie Policy. Where required by law, we ask for your consent before placing non-essential cookies through a cookie banner on the website.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, including when we change our analytics setup or cookie practices. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be posted on this page.
