How InstantStack uses cookies, consent, and server-side analytics on instantstack.co.

This Cookie Policy explains how InstantStack (WebKenner) uses cookies and similar technologies on instantstack.co. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help sites remember preferences, keep sessions secure, and understand how pages are used. Similar technologies include local storage and session storage in your browser.

Server-side tracking vs cookies

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to measure website traffic after you opt in. Page views and key interactions (such as trial button clicks) may be sent via our server (Measurement Protocol) and, if you consent, via Google’s analytics script in your browser.

However, we still use first-party cookies for essential functions (such as remembering your cookie consent choice) and optional GA4 identifiers after you accept analytics. This policy covers those browser-stored technologies.

Types of cookies we use

Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are required for the website to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are usually set in response to actions you take, such as setting privacy preferences or filling in forms.

  • it_consent — stores your cookie preference (necessary). Up to 12 months.
  • Security and session — help protect the site and maintain basic session state where needed.

Legal basis: legitimate interest / strictly necessary for service delivery. Consent is not required for these cookies under EU ePrivacy rules.

Analytics cookies (optional)

If you accept analytics cookies, we may also set:

  • it_cid — first-party identifier used with GA4 Measurement Protocol. Up to 12 months.
  • _ga / _ga_* — set by Google Analytics in your browser when client-side tracking is enabled. See Google’s documentation for retention.

These help us understand which pages and CTAs perform well. They are only placed after you opt in through our cookie banner.

Where possible, we combine server-side Measurement Protocol with optional client-side GA4 for accurate, consent-based analytics.

Legal basis: consent. You can withdraw consent at any time via the cookie banner or your browser settings.

Third-party cookies

Some third-party services may set their own cookies when you interact with them:

  • Lemon Squeezy — when you visit checkout or the customer portal, Lemon Squeezy may set cookies necessary for payment processing and fraud prevention. See Lemon Squeezy’s privacy documentation for details.
  • Embedded content — if we embed third-party content (such as videos or social widgets), those providers may set cookies. We minimise embeds that track visitors without consent.

Cookie banner and consent

When you first visit instantstack.co, a cookie banner allows you to accept or reject non-essential cookies. Strictly necessary cookies remain active regardless of your choice because the site cannot function properly without them.

You can change your preferences at any time using the Cookie settings link in the site footer (Legal section).

How to control cookies in your browser

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings. Blocking all cookies may affect site functionality. Useful starting points:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Settings → Privacy → Cookies
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions

Retention

Cookie lifetimes vary by purpose. Consent preference cookies typically last up to 12 months. Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. We review cookie durations periodically and keep them as short as practical.

Changes to this policy

We update this Cookie Policy when we add new cookies, change analytics providers, or adjust our consent mechanism. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the latest revision.
